Launch: Friends of Calton Hill

The Friends of Calton Hill are a new group of local residents, formed to help make the hill a cleaner, safer, more beautiful public place.



A public launch will be held on Wednesday, 29 March, at the Collective City Observatory, on the top of the Hill. The meeting will start at 18.30. Speakers will include Iain Gordon Brown (author of Auld Greekie, Edinburgh as the Athens of the North) with a talk entitled, '"One splendid whole... one glorious scene": The Calton Acropolis’. and Linda Anglin of the City of Edinburgh Council speaking about the Thriving Green Spaces project. Silke Schneider, Edinburgh World Heritage, will explain the importance of Calton Hill to the world heritage site.
